The Evans Farm is located 5 miles northeast of Assumption in the southeastern part of Flat Branch Township, in northwest Shelby County.  Of the 128.98 total cropland acres, this gently rolling farm has 79.31 acres enrolled in CRP Continuous Sign-up providing $18,388 in annual payments expiring in 2026.  This property offers a beautiful rolling countryside with blooming native plants that provide excellent habitat for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators.  The 79.31 acres could be converted back to row crops after the expiration of the CRP contract or offered for re-enrollment. 

The 46.88 acres of farmland currently in crop production are located on the east side of the property with an overall soil productivity index rating of 132.9.  It consists of Elburn, Starks, and Proctor soil types.   The tillable farmland is leased in 2023 to the current tenant.  Please call for lease details.  The farm yielded 66 bushel per acre soybeans in 2022, 226 bushel per acre corn in 2021, and 66.5 bushel per acre soybeans in 2020.

The CRP land on the Evans Farm is also enrolled in the Illinois Recreational Access Program (IRAP). The goal of IRAP is to provide more places for outdoor recreation while promoting activities for youth and their families.  With more than 97% of the land in Illinois privately owned and Illinois ranking 46th among states with public lands, there is a boundless need to provide additional acreage for public access. With IRAP, private landowners can enroll in the program and receive a financial reimbursement from IDNR to allow for controlled public access. Landowners are not selling or giving up the rights to their land, but merely agreeing to allow the public access during specific dates and times for the sole purpose of hunting.  The current contract expires in 2025 but can be terminated by the owner with 30 days' notice.  The payments for the current lease are as follows:  2023 - $1,784.50, 2024 - $1,431.75, and 2025 - $3,071.00.

The Evans Farm has entered into a wind lease option agreement that is currently in the development phase.  This option currently pays $20 per acre per year.
